Palace on wheels       -  Rajasthan  (7 nts /8 days)
An extraordinary train for the extraordinary people. A train with historic charm and modern conveniences. A royal train beckoning you to step aboard for a week of splendor. It takes you on a royal odyssey. Bringing alive the luxury of princely travel of needs with central air –conditioning, soothing four channel music, interconnected telephone system in the train, a separate panty and lounge in each coach, comfortable coupes with the privacy of attached bathrooms, two specialty restaurants- ‘Maharaja’ and ‘Maharani’ serving exotic Indian, Continental and Rajasthani cuisine, a well

The  14 coaches of the Palace -on- Wheels with rich décor that evoke the age of Rajput chivalry, are named after former Rajput states Kota, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bkaner, Alwar, Sirohi,
Kishangarh, Bundi, Dungarpur, Bharatpur, Jhalawar and Dholpur.

Heritage On Wheels - A Journey into the Past...

RTDC and Indian Railways are proud on the success of the Palace on Wheels which has paved a path for a launch of new tourist train- Heritage on Wheels, on the available meter gauge section in Rajasthan. No other region in India, or perhaps, even in the world, has such a large concentration of high quality frescoes as the region of Shekhawati. In the beginning, this semi-arid region had only its blank monochromatic palette to offer. No school of painting thrived till history and circumstances took up this

colorless page and made it blossom with art for almost two centuries - from 1750 to 1930. Today, this region is commonly called the 'open-air art gallery of Rajasthan.
  The itinerary of the Heritage on Wheels is so planned that tourists can have experience of Shekhawati Region - Bikaner - Nawalgarh - Ramgarh (Mahansar) - Mandawa including Gajner and Tal Chhapar sanctuaries. Pre and Post sightseeing tour of Jaipur is also offered by RTDC on nominal cost.
  The tour is of 3 nights and 4 days. The train will leave twice a week from Jaipur on Tuesday and Friday and will return back to Jaipur on Friday/Monday morning respectively.

Kalka-Shimla  -  Hill Railways (6 hrs) (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE)
This Hill Railway built in 1903 connects the summer capital of British India and has remained extremely popular with tourists.
The former Summer Capital of British India, Shimla is the present –day State Capital of Himachal Pradesh, offering tourists breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks, snow-capped mountains, inviting trails, the heady fragrance of flowers and a wonderful opportunity to take in all these leisurely, as the toy train from Kalka winds its way up slowly and steadily.
 
Nilgiri Mountain Railway (4 hr 30 min) (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE)
The U.N. has conferred the “World Heritage Site” status to the Nilgiri Mountain Railway.
Nestling among the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu is the “ Queen of Indian Hill Station” –Udhagamandalam enjoys a cool, pleasant climate all round the year the Nilgiri Mountain train is a great way to reach this hill station.
The delightful little train starts from the town of Mettupalaiyam, and covers 46 kms. To Udhagamandalam in four and half hours, at a maximum speed of 33 kms, per hour.
The Train ride is visual delight-twisting, turning, passing through 10 tunnels, breaking out into bright sunlight, chugging across tall girder bridges, passing through forest-clad hills, moving gently along the tea plantations, it indeed is a journey to remember.
 
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (6 hrs 30 min) (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE)
The site includes the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, inscribed in 1999. The site now encompasses the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a 46 km long metre-gauge single-track railway in Tamil Nadu State. Its construction was first proposed in 1854, but due to the difficulty of the mountainous location the work only started in 1891 and was completed in 1908. This railway, scaling an elevation of 326 m to 2,203 m and still in use today, represented the latest technology of the time. It was highly significant in facilitating population movement and socio-economic development in the British colonial era.
 
Deccan Odyssey – Maharashtra and Gujerat (7 nts 8 days)

Fairy Queen – Delhi –Alwar  (10 hrs)
Twice  a month only 1855.The majestic Fairy Queen rolled out for the firs time for the erstwhile East Indian Railway. For the first time after 1908, the Fairy Queen rolled again on Feb 1st 1997 from Delhi to Alwar. The steam engine is the oldest working engine in the world. Finding its place of pride in the Guinness book of World Records and also capturing the National Tourism Award,  this prestigious pristine beauty that graces the National Rail Museum, New Delhi,
is steaming one again. The Queen with the privileged ones aboard, steaming out of Delhi, reaches the picturesque town of Alwar in Rajasthan the same day, from where the guests are taken to Sariska wild Life Sanctuary for an overnight stay. The selected quests certainly go back with fond memories of a once-in-a lifetime experience.
